EDU 108 - Introduction to Special Education


This course offers an introduction to special education, focusing on the legal and practical foundations that guide inclusive teaching. Students will examine key laws such as IDEA and Section 504, explore the components of the Individualized Education Program (IEP), and understand the importance of the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). Emphasis will be placed on developing and implementing effective accommodations and modifications to support diverse learners. The course prepares future educators to advocate for and support students with disabilities in a variety of educational settings.

Prerequisite(s): Completion of EDU 101 , “C” or higher in EDU 101
