HUS 109 - Trauma and Resiliency in Children’s Behavioral Health This course equips students with knowledge and skills for recognizing and addressing effects of trauma on children and families. Neurological, developmental, and psychosocial impacts of trauma as well as concepts like trauma-related symptoms, family/community impacts, resilience, re-traumatization, and self-care, will be examined. Training is provided in evidence-based trauma treatments, engaging children/families/systems, and implementing culturally-competent, trauma-informed services. Strategies for strengthening child welfare and family bonding are highlighted.
Prerequisite(s): HUS 107, Placement in ENG 101 or higher
