COM 112 - Speech Communication for Health Professions
Students will learn the fundamentals of speech communication in health contexts. They will listen to, deliver, discuss, and respond to presentations of increasing complexity. Emphasis will be placed on the organization of the introduction, body, and conclusion; development of main points; analysis of effective supporting materials; and elements of speech delivery, including effective verbal and nonverbal aspects of communication. Additionally, students will focus on key components of face-to-face communication and the types of communication utilized in various health professions. Focus will be placed on process, professionalism, timeliness, tone, and format. This class is only open to students in the CRC certificate program.
Prerequisite(s): Placement in ENG 101 or higher.
